Canada's source-safe condo building directory
Methodology
Methodology for Condobuildings.ca, with source-aware buyer questions, document requests, red flags, professional review scope and correction paths.
Direct Answer
An imported building footprint does not automatically mean a building is a condominium.
What the Platform Publishes
Condobuildings.ca is a condo building intelligence platform, not a scraped listings site and not a generic condo blog. The product promise is to help users research Canadian condo buildings with clear verification status, source transparency, buyer education and correction workflows.
Building Footprints Are Not Condo Verification
Statistics Canada's Open Database of Buildings is a harmonized open building dataset. Current public StatCan material for version 3.0 describes about 14.4 million records from open building features collected from November 2024 to April 2025. Source. ODB and municipal footprint datasets can identify physical building records, but they do not confirm condominium corporation status, unit counts, amenities, boards, managers, fees or policies.

Candidate Scoring Inputs
Candidate scoring can use footprint size, height, address density, zoning, assessment class, parcel type, open permit signals, known condo areas, manual overrides and source confidence when those fields are lawfully available. Candidate scoring is used to prioritize review, not to publish verified condo claims.

- needs_review
Public pages never display a likely classification as a verified fact. Public wording uses candidate language such as multi-unit candidate, condo candidate, needs review or source conflict.
Verified Condo Confirmation
A profile can be marked verified condo only when a reliable source confirms condo status. Depending on the province, this may include a provincial condo or strata resource, a lawful official record, a verified manual override with source notes, or a moderated submission supported by acceptable documentation. Claimed profiles do not override verified-source review.
Unknown Fields
If a field is not source-backed, the site displays Not verified yet, Source needed, Pending verification or Submit an update. Unknown fields are intentionally visible because uncertainty is part of the trust model.
Corrections, Claims and Moderation
Users can submit corrections, source links, duplicate reports, not-a-condo flags and profile claims. Submissions enter moderation and do not automatically publish as verified facts. Claiming a profile can identify an authorized representative and propose updates, but it cannot falsify source-backed data.
Duplicate Handling
Potential duplicates are reviewed using source identifiers, geometry, addresses, neighbourhoods and provenance. Duplicate or merged records should be noindex or canonicalized rather than published as competing verified pages.
